Day 53: A new look at poop

Everyone poops.  There's even a book of that same name, highlighting this fact.  But what do you do with your poop?  I don't do much, other than flush it down.  But in Haiti, a place where disease has been rampant before, but now more significantly since the earthquake, management of human waste is a significant issue.

An organization, SOIL (Sustainable Organic Integrated Livelihoods), is working in Haiti to turn an abundance of waste, into a valuable resource.  Their mission: protecting soil resources, empowering communities and transforming wastes into resources in Haiti. We believe that the path to sustainability is through transformation, of both disempowered people and discarded materials, turning apathy and pollution into valuable resources.  Here is a video documenting their work and progress.
