Day 32: Freedom

"Freedom is never free." ~Author Unknown
"In the truest sense, freedom cannot be bestowed; it must be achieved."  ~Franklin D. Roosevelt

Today is Veteran's Day.  A day to remember that we live in a land where we have freedom.  And a day to remember that there are men and women who have fought, and some given their lives, so that we can have freedom.

I am so thankful to have freedom.  To be able to speak without fear of reprimand.  To worship my God without fear of persecution.  To vote and make choices.  To go to school and learn and attain knowledge.  To marry who I want.  To work.  To choose what I want to wear.

Freedom is often taken for granted.  It's all I've ever known, thankfully.  But when I see women struggling for rights in other countries, or people persecuted for their beliefs, I am reminded that it is a gift.  Thank you to the men and women currently serving.  And to those who have served in the past, including my father, grandfather, sister, aunt, cousins.
