Day 83: Generosity and Creativity

I don't know what it is, but stories that I find about recycling old items are so fascinating to me.  Maybe it is the ingenuity of these people, in being able to look at a bicycle, and see new ways of using it that captures me.  A water pump.  Nut sheller.  Blender.  My brain doesn't naturally think like that, and so seeing the possibilities of what junk, or unwanted items, can be transformed into is just amazing.

I feel optimistic when I read and watch stories like the one below.  For one, creative people come up with creative solutions for problems all the time.  It is reassuring knowing that there are scientists and inventors and engineers who can look at a problem (pick one!) and begin to find solutions.  And another reason to feel optimistic, is there are many generous people in the world.  Often, when presented with a problem or an opportunity to give, we step up.  Bikes sent to Guatemala.  Donations to relief work in Haiti.  Sewing dresses out of pillowcases and sending them to needy kids around the world.  Generosity and creativity are powerful when it comes to combating problems that keep popping up.
