This last week, the Susan G. Komen Global Promise Fund extended its reach to Israel, with its first ever Race for the Cure in Jerusalem. It was a week long event, consisting of meetings with government officials, NGOs, and survivors. The race was attended by over 5,000 people, Arabs and Jews walking together, united in a single cause. Fighting breast cancer.
""We all came here, because there is no difference between us, when it comes to this disease. Jews, Arabs, we are all women and we all fight together," said one of the participants, who traveled all the way from a Druze village in the north of Israel. The Susan G. Komen Global Promise Fund is dedicated to reaching underserved people in areas where breast cancer death rates are highest. This race in Jerusalem was meant to raise awareness of breast health, and to open dialog about detection and treatment of breast cancer.
